Cross the Sea of Marmara by ferry with the Istanbul skyline behind you, explore the central island, tour Büyükada, the largest of the islands, and climb to the Aya Yorgi church for the view.

Good to know

• Wear comfortable shoes: the road up to Aya Yorgi is steep.
• Cars are not allowed on the islands, which makes them calm and safe for children.
• In summer, bring sunscreen and a hat.
