Bursa and Mount Uludağ: snow in winter, green forests in summer

One of the longest cable cars in the world, a mountain that changes with the seasons and an old Ottoman city. What waits for you on the Bursa trip.

Bursa was the first capital of the Ottoman state, about three hours from Istanbul by car. Most visitors come for Mount Uludağ: snow-covered in winter and green with forests in summer, so it is worth a visit in every season.

The cable car to the top

The Bursa cable car is among the longest in the world, stretching for kilometres over the forest. The city shrinks below you, the pine trees begin, and in winter the snow appears little by little on the way up.

The stops

  • A natural bee house where you taste mountain honeys.
  • The ancient tree, a huge plane tree hundreds of years old.
  • The halva and honey exhibition, for gifts and local sweets.
  • Free time on the mountain for photos — and snow fights in winter.

When to go

December to March for snow; May to September for green views and mild weather. Either way it is a full day, with hotel pick-up, lunch and a guide.
